Spot the difference…

Design Team member Michelle Frisby sent through these two layouts…

Can you spot the difference?

Both layouts were created using Echo Park Life is good range of papers.

By adding some hand stitching and a butterfly Michelle created a different look to her layout, great work Michelle!

Celebrating 50 years of True Love

My in-laws recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. We had a family lunch and I took lots of precious photos of all the family together. This page is for Sophies album. She looks so cute and comfortable snuggled up on Omas knee. My in-laws are Dutch and I thought that the little houses in this Echo Park collection looked like little Dutch houses in Amsterdam (Hence the strip under my main photo). I used a sheet of die-cut paper from another paper range as a template to cut the background sheet and I made the satin flower myself (I am really enjoying making my own flower embellishments for my LOs at the moment. There are so many different ways achieve this. The upper border is punched using another Martha Stewart punch from my excessive collection 🙂

Fairy Bubbles

I have had these lovely photos of Sophie blowing bubbles for a while just waiting for the right papers. these Echo Park papers were perfect. i used lots of circular elements on the LO in keeping with the bubble theme. The bubble-effect border was done using different sized coins which i placed all around the edge of the craft cardstock before spraying with aqua glimmer mist. The coins acted as bubble-shaped masks to produce the effect that I wanted. I scanned and printed a page from a childrens book to place behind the photos for added interest.  The lacy doily and pink lace trim gave the LO a girlie/fairy-like look. Creativity by Michelle Frisby

Hi there,

To this layout I have added a paper doily and two transparency tags  – I have used Tim’s alcohol inks and the tags have been embossed through my Cuttlebug.

By Michelle Frisby

I’ve also used the Tim’s Concerto mask with Rusty Hinge distress ink … cut out the middle of my backing Bazzill cardstock and used it as another layer above the Echo Park papers.

I tried really hard to ‘grunge’ my layout up a little.

A little creativity From Michelle

The gorgeous colours of my kit this month featured pinks, teals and browns … yummo colours.  Truly beautiful in real life, honest.

When I first saw this range on line, I envisaged scrapping pics of younger children and I’m not saying that you can’t do that – but wowser, was I wrong.  This range of papers really should be added to your stash.  So far I’ve scrapped me … mid forties, and now my niece in the under 20 age group … and plan on scrapping a pic of the younger age group as well.

I know that I am sounding like I am repeating myself, but these papers have surprised me big time.  I suggest you head in and see the girls at the shop and add a few to your stash before they disappear.

In this layout featuring my niece Trekessa, I’ve thrown in a little distressing ink. I have water brushed the edges of the paper to create the curling effect [if you don’t have a water brush, use a fine paint brush dipped in water, run the paint brush down the edge and lift and curl with your thumb and finger – when it dries it retains the shape and curl], add a little distressing ink, mix in a little layering and I was done.  I did keep some of my edges ink free, just for a change and I’ve also added a little ribbon and a few flowers.

And value for money … the alpha stickers in this range … alphas that I will keep grabbing – they have a set in each of the colours, pink, teal and brown and sticker edges included in a 12×12 sheet.

Happy creating everyone.  Mrs Frizz

A Challenge from Mrs F…

Hi everyone,

I’ve been creative with my latest kit that arrived on my doorstep last week.

I’ve been working with the new Echo Park – Life is good range of papers.

Wow, these papers in real life, are absolutely gorgeous; the teals, the browns and the pinks are beautiful.  You are going to have to whip in and visit the ladies at Scottie Crafts and add some of these to your stash.

Me @ 45- Michelle Frisby

As part of my kit i received some doilies which are plastic coated so they are perfect for use as stencils, they can also be coloured with inks or alcohol inks.

They are available in the shop, just ask one of the girls where to find them.

I’ve used a doily as a stencil and dabbed distressing ink over it [bottom right hand side] and then I’ve used the doily as part of my layering, with the ink still showing on the top.

I’m a big fan of recycling Prima packaging on my layouts and have used the packaging as another layer on my layout.  A little distressing, throw in some embellishments and there you have it.

Now ladies … I have a challenge for you; and for me it was a big challenge!

I’m normally the one behind the camera and far prefer it that way.  But my challenge to you … is to take a photo of yourself today, tomorrow, this week , sometime soon and scrap it … scrap it, just for you.

Go on … I dare you too!!!

Happy creating.    Michelle [aka Mrs Frizz]

Lazy Days by Sarah Groen

My final Design team layout for this month showcases some of my favourite photos from a recent trip to the beach.

Because my kids were dressed in very loud clothes I used solid coloured papers and strips close to the photos and tied all the colours together with the multicoloured circle strip along the bottom of the page.

DT layout by Sarah Groen

I had fun making a large pinwheel embellishment to go along with the theme and to match the gorgeous Echo Park paper. A bling circle and some machine stitching completed the layout.

Thanks for looking and have fun rugging up on these cold winter nights crafting.

At the Beach by Sarah Groen

At the Beach in Winter

My second design team layout  for July was designed around the new Tim Holtz border masks that have just joined my stash.

I used the barbed wire masks and Walnut distress ink to make a frame around the LO.

I affixed two journalling cards and two rectangles of patterned paper cut to the same size as the cards above my two photos, the bright colours of the paper really ‘pop’ against the grungy frame and reflect the colours of my childrens clothes against the sandy beach.

I finished off the LO with some fun stamps and the colourful alphas from the Echo Park Collection.
